About

Dr. Shawn M. Finch is Our Vet!

We always hear horror stories from a lot of the dogs at the park about their vets.  And we are always VERY proud to say we don’t have one horror story!  All the dogs stare at us in disbelief when we say that.  That’s because our vet is the most gentle human we know!  And we know a lot of humans!

Dr. Shawn Finch has wanted to be a Vet ever since she was 9 years old.  She went to The University of Nebraska at Lincoln for her Pre-Veterinary Medicine degree.  She went to Iowa State University for her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.

She’s been a vet since 1998, and is a member of the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association).  Shawn is also involved with Nebraska Poodle Rescue and a supporter of Nebraska Humane Society.  She writes for CareFRESH, which makes small pet products and Life with Dogs.

Dr. Shawn Finch and her husband Russ who is a skilled carpenter, are parents of 2 beautiful little ladies, Amanda and Abigail.  Dr. Finch’s family are all members of Westwood Church.  And they have 3 pets…Joy the Puppy (lab mix), Noodle the Poodle and Max the Cat.

Dr. Finch practices at Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital in Omaha.

The only downside of having such a great vet is, we can’t relate with the other dogs when they tell their horror stories…But that’s ok with us!  Thanks Dr. Finch!

    Hello,

I wanted to drop you a line and compliment you on your website and blog. Nice layout, good tips, and an overall great resource on conscientious animal care.

I currently work for an in house veterinary financing plan provider and we are interested in advertising on your site because we think it would be a great fit for us.

Please let me know if this is possible.

Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.

I am a student at Canton Academy in Canton Mississippi. I am doing a research paper on “black dog syndrome.” Would you possibly have time to answer a few questions pertaining to my topic. I really need a professionals opinion. I would be happy to type up my questions and send them to you today. Please let me know if this is something you would be able to do for me?

    Sincerely,

    Hi Dr. Finch,

This is a great blog…..your passion for preventative care definitely came through in the ‘losing your cool’ article.

We are building a QnA service for pet owners and would greatly appreciate your input. Any chance would could spare 5-10 minutes for a quick phone call?

The purpose of the call would be to get your opinions on some of the challenges veterinarians face vis-a-vis online tools.

    Thanks in advance.
